WARNING: FDA Alert Regarding Zantac Usage, NDMA, and the possible Cancer Connection

January 3, 2020

The Zantac Lawyers at Brown, LLC are encouraging individuals who have taken Zantac for a period of time to speak with their physician as soon as possible if they exhibit any symptoms of cancer.   On September 13, 2019 the FDA warned the public regarding impermissibly high levels of NDMA found in Zantac (https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/statement-alerting-patients-and-health-care-professionals-ndma-found-samples-ranitidine).

According to the FDA’s alert Zantac products have what they politely refer to as an impurity of N-nitrosodimethylamine also commonly referred to as NDMA. To call it an impurity is an understatement as its classified as a carcinogen, which is a known cancer causing substance.

Zantac is the brand name for Ranitdine, an over the counter and prescription drug which block certain times of histamine to reduce acid in the stomach and treat conditions like GERD, acid reflux and heartburn.

The FDA then went out to recommend that individuals who have suffered adverse reactions should report those reactions to the FDA.  The lawyers at Brown, LLC are warning individuals that filling out such a form without consulting with a lawyer about the Zantac lawsuit could prejudice your case if choose to become part of the Zantac litigation.   If you disregard this advice, at least keep a copy of what you submit to the FDA.

Another visceral reaction people have when they hear their medicine may be tainted like the NDMA in Zantac is rage and throwing out the product.  Please DO NOT throw out the Zantac as it may be critical proof for your case if you were unfortunately diagnosed with cancer after long term Zantac usage.

Over 100 million in judgments and settlements trials in state and federal courts. We fight for maximum damage and results.

This is another case of who could believe this is happening.  This was allegedly discovered by an online pharmacy who tests certain lots before shipping.  Did the companies falsify records to allow certain lots to pass when they shouldn’t have?  Is there some sort of environmental factor that occurs after manufacturing that causes Ranitidine to metabolize into NDMA?  All this and more will probably be answered during the course of the Zantac litigation.

Cancer is a broad-based disease and unlike other mass torts, the signature injury caused by Zantac has not been refined yet.  For example, with the Roundup Litigation, the signature injury was Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL), with Actos it was bladder cancer.  Unless and until there is further focus on the types of cancer caused by Zantac the firm will consider taking cases in which any cancer was diagnosed after long term Zantac usage.

If you or a loved one used Zantac and then were diagnosed with cancer, please call the Zantac lawyers at Brown, LLC (877) 561-0000 to discuss your rights.  The law firm is led by a former FBI Special Agent and has recovered tens of millions of dollars for its clients, but nothing is of course guaranteed.  The firm offers free consultations about the Zantac cancer connection and works on contingency meaning the firm is only paid if they win your case.
